Honest limits on both products.
A roll shutter is a hardening layer, not a fortress. Every aluminum shutter on the market has the same physics behind it. Worth saying out loud before you buy either:
- Neither product makes the home break-in proof. They raise the cost of entry significantly. A determined intruder with the right tools and enough time can still get past one.
- Storm protection scales with slat gauge. Standard residential spec is not built for the same loads as commercial spec — ask both quotes about gauge, not just brand.
- Motorized shutters need power. Manual override is the failsafe during outages. Both products handle this the same way.
- A roll shutter is permanent infrastructure. The head box sits above the window opening and is visible when retracted. Both products work the same way — anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something different.
